Shock Absorber Fluid

What type of fluid should I use in my 1950 Buick's shock absorbers?

Thanks, Rodney

I use hydraulic jack oil and it works fine.

Thanks Joe - and somebody suggested ATF (automatic transmission fluid)

Rodney

ATF is OK if the shocks have been rebuilt with neoprene seals. The older shocks have rubber seals, and the ATF will desroy the seals.

I've been using motorcycle shock fluid just because it is easy to get. I think the above suggestions are good. :D
