Nothing wrong with the stock pump. The best thing you can do is upgrade the steering box to a fast ratio one. Instead of paying $300 or more for a Borgeson or other remanufactred one for a GTO, 442, etc, get a '92 to '98 Jeep Grand Cherokee box. Exactly the same with the X cast into the top. probably $25 at your local salvage yard. Makes a big difference. Have to do a little adapting for the hoses and rag joint but the info is available in some of the forums. Malibu, Olds, etc.is where I found mine but pretty much figured it out by myself. Pump can be resealed easy. Kits are cheap. They come apart easy. Don't be afraid of it. good luck.
