Pontiac HEI to fit 263 motor.

I have seen several posts talking about adapting a Pontiac HEI distributor to the 263 motor but never much for details. Does anybody have a little more details on doing that? What model Pontiac works and what needs to be done exactly? I don't have an original distributor and the HEI sounds like the way to go. Thanks !!

I have one. An oldsmobile distributor modified to work. Also have an original distributor. I did not like the large HEI. Worked well! Just big and ugly, IMO.
Before the HEI, I tried Pertronix. Again, worked well. I ended up with an original distributor modified with a GM pickup and reluctor, with a GM module mounted externally. Satisfied for now. My car is modified a little. 12V, EFI, with the ECM controlling the ignition timing. Bored, higher [10/1 ] compression .
