Looking to upgrade the suspension on the 66 Skylark its getting tired recommendations for a parts supplier would prefer NON CHINESE :( :)

When you say upgrade because it's getting tired, what is it doing or what do you want from it?

I just think its time to smooth out the ride, a lot of knocking and noise and some body roll want to give it some modern suspension

A smooth ride is a combination of reasonable springs and shocks that are designed for that job. Unless your car is a performance model the original spring and shock specifications are probably close to the smoothest ride you will get.

Knocking related to suspension would be the bushings. Originals are rubber, many replace them with Poly, but that will stiffen the ride and some people have a problem with them squeaking.

Body roll would be the job of sway bars. Most cars did not come with a rear sway bar, adding an OE style one makes a difference, or performance sway bars as described HERE! The heavy ones will really keep the car flat on corners.

I have a Kit from Global West to use G-Body spindles on the A-body. The G-body (think 87 GN) was made with radials and modern handling in mind. It will drop the front end about 2 inches. As Bob stated, a larger or any sway bar in the rear is helpful with sway. The Trans am from the 80s also had a larger front sway bar that can be used on the 60s A-body. So, the junk yard is good for those and spindles. Global West also makes rear trailing arms that set the pinion angle better for handling. Then, as discussed, a good set of shocks (Koni, Viking) will finish it off. You will have to figure out how far down this road you want to go. It can get long and winding!
