Parts Discontinued

I just called the local Buick dealer for a part for my 1994 Regal. I am looking for the black plastic insert for the driver's door handle. The part is no longer available from GM. Where does on go to for parts? This is my first GM product. Is it typical to see parts disappear in 10 years?

Ray,
Have your dealer do a "search" for the part. Most dealers will not so this unless asked. They can search the GM system to try and find a dealer that has the part. Next step would be to try online...maybe e-bay.

I believe the part you're looking for is the "door cup" - the piece of plastic on the door panel that sits behind the handle.
I think your best bet would be to go to a junkyard to find one. Most junkyards have access to large databases and should be able to order one in if they don't have one on site.
