Painting over paint on engine???

A weird question (what other kind do I post). Okay, I cannot find brush-on gold high heat paint, except for 50 + bucks caliper paint. I have a finned aluminum valley pan and Valve covers to match (364 ci Nailhead) I wanted to paint the lower portions between the fins with a gold paint to match the car. My question is: Could I use black brush-on high heat paint and simply cover that with a standard brush on gold color? Would the black high heat paint serve to 'insulate' standard grade gold paint?

One thought is the high heat base coat should be white. This is because light colors reflect heat. Black would allow more heat to pass through the surface. Think black radiators, starters, generators etc which need to dissipate unwanted heat.

If heat attacks the gold paint from another direction via hot air blast or intake manifold heat etc, discoloration or peeling may occur anyway. (Could mean painting bottom of the intake manifold white?)

It would sure be interesting to see if the base coat idea works.
