NOS GM 1966 thru 1970 Buick Riviera GS Center Cap SET

Riviera Centre Caps

These are period correct for '66, early '67, as the retainers are the peened over cast post type. Later years had 4 philips head machine screws to fasten the spring steel retainers on the same style of ribbed, cone shaped cap.

Thanks Rivman. I didn't know that. This is those small things i love to find out about my car and other Rivieras :) i have the later years with 4 philips head machine screws on my 66 Riviera rims/wheels now. Thinking over to bye them now, but they are not cheap...

Riviera Centre Caps

Externally, there is no visual difference - and these NOS caps are expensive !!
The early style caps did not age well, as the peened pins were subject to corrosion, and once the retainers seperated from the centre cap - the only way to properly repair them was to drill and tap the centre cap for screws. The prongs on the spring steel retainers also broke easily, and it was much easier to replace the retainer with the screw type holes.
If your later style centre caps are in good shape, I would just stick with them.
If they are not the best - you can buy complete repro centre caps, (...with screw type retainers),that are much better quality than original NOS caps, for a lot less $$$$ !
