Hey Everyone,

I just picked up my first old Buick! 68' Lesabre 400, pretty cool old in great starting shape. Drove it around Vancouver a couple days here till it overheated and bent all the pushrods. Almost done head gaskets up now. Already has a built trans and few other goodies built trans B&M ratchet shifter MSD ignition full stereo lowered duals pretty rad. Is there any other Buick guys up in Canada or do anyone know where I can find some bumpers? They are the worst part on the car. Everything else minus 1 power window switch seems to be functioning fine. If anyone is close wants to go for a cruise or do some wrenching or can point me to some stash of Buick stuff that would also be rad.
 
Real nice car. I'd start with making sure your coolant overheat light works so you don't drive it to damage engine.

Well turns out the coolant overheat light has failed haha. I bent about half the pushrods during an overheat. Got everything head gaskets up reassembled last night. Broke a bolt a bolt off in the thermostat housing so drove it to work today ill drill and tap the holes in the parking lot put the new thermostat in.

I gota find bumpers quarters and convert to disk brakes its still drums up front. springs and shocks next though.

New foam can be purchased cross referencing from other GM vehicles. SMS may have seat covers but they are unpredictable on delivery. If u don't find quarters, welder/fabricator with English wheel can make new pieces. Plating shop can straighten and replace.
 
I should build a small English wheel just make them I guess. Ill try and straight the bumpers it would be nice to clean them up.
 
The "400" caught my eye. A friend showed me his new 69 LeSabre, and I commented on the 400 scrip on the quarter panels, thinking it referred to the engine. He said it referred to the transmission, which must have been the Turbo HydraMatic 400.
 
Yeah it has a th400 in it. I just finished a service this morning after the pan hit the ground and drained the oil out on the highway. oops.
 
noice. 68 is supposedly the year after Super Turbine / switch pitch 400 transmission ended. remotely possible you've got an ST400. if so, you should probably keep that around.
