Keeping the "factory" look

Okay,I've heard many of you express interest in adding iPodthrough FM RF modulators or adding those crappy made-to-look-old AM/FM stereo tape or CD.

Well for you people ( and me),here is a great product established in hi-fi community for decades. It looks almost exactly like my '63's "Sonomatic" AM radio with its twin knob's and simple black face plate.

It is entirely feasible to get good sound without tearing up your dash or compromising the cosmetic integration.

I am just amazed how many people have drop-dead gorgeous Buicks here, using top-quality restoration parts, and then throw in some cheap noise box (I won't even dignify to call them a stereo).

This is just insulting to Buicks lovers

I have looked at several different options for keeping the "stock" look in the dash, but haven't found any that really make me want to spend the coin for an updated stereo system. The one you have pictured is the best I've seen. Who - what - when - where & how?

Hey Steve, any idea where I can find something like that? I tryed to explain to the guys at good ol' Best Buy I wanted a "stock" looking radio that was a cd player as well and they either A.) didn't know what I was talking about or B.) pointed me to the crap-o-matic twin knob cassette
player in a plastic box for 9 dollars. I wish the one in your pic had a little more chrome, though.

It's Mcintosh. But it is expensive!!! $900-$2500 for just the head unit or head unit + D/A. I highly recommend it.

I got my $2,200 Nakamichi CD700II (not made for US anymore) on ebay for $1,400 at thge time--from a great ebayer who is FAIR, and has great classic mobile audio. As soon as he gets your paypal, whatever you ordered is at your doorstep in 2 days from the Orient!!

The old Nakamichi units also cosmetically integrate well. They're all black and match the sonomatic black radio area
