Welcome Oliver.
1940 Buicks are great. My first Buick, my second car, was a 1940 back in 1953.
Your English is way better than my German. Don't be concerned

Ben.

Hi Ben,
thank you for your welcome! Great to find this forum here an that you have had owned also an 1940 Buick. ;o)
I don't want to repaint my Buick . Love it at how it is with the old patina. But first it needs a technically completely check up. It has the original colour No. 546 and i love it. The car need som little repairs and time. Hopefully this project will be ready in the next year.
If i take some good photos i will share it here.

Oliver

Hi, Oliver, I have a 40 Buick Special four door, too. It's an ongoing project, and I am sometimes surprised at the ways things were made. Door upholstery backing panels, for instance, are made of three layers of what seems like the felt underlay we use on roofs, sometimes called tar paper. I learned the hard way not to leave inside door handles in vinegar (for cleaning) overnight - it resulted in bad pitting. All the best with your project. There are many knowledgeable people (I don't claim that status, myself) on Team Buick to answer questions. Your English is perfectly clear.

Hi and thanks for your comment and best wishes. Nice that you will restore also an Buick Special 40. I love this old cars and will restore my Buick carefully. I am shure that not all is an easy going. In Europe we find these cars not so much. Hopefully here i find some help if i needed and we have som knowledgeable people "on board". If you have some pictures from your Buick are they very welcome.
Best wishes for your projekt and best regards from Germany.
Oliver

Oh! Interessant. Deshalb sprichst Du so gut deutsch.
In 1990 habe ich für 4 Wochen Canada (Manitoba und British Columbia) besucht.
Sehr schön! ;o)

Hi Olli,
Welcome to the straight eight group.
Nice project...,its a resto project or just need some repairs ?...
It's already licensed for street or you start with just a Title?
GreetingsJenz
also living in lower saxony ,Syke near Bremen.

Hi Jenz,
thank you. It is a light resto project. The car drives and have no rust. I start with a title and will begin in a few weeks if it is a little bit warmer outside. If the project is completed the car should look like your famous and very nice Buick (patina restoration). In the moment i am searching for ignition cables, sparks and oil-filter. Not easy to find in Germany.
Syke ist not far away from my home (250 km - round about 2 hours on the Autobahn).

Best regards
Oliver
