Anyone know where you can get the plastic mounting studs, adjustment screws, springs, etc for the headlight mount on a 1968 Buick Skylark.

Just about any auto parts store. NAPA & ADVANCED come to mind 1st.

Well, I can't seem to dig deep enough to find them on their websites. OPGI and the other big classic suppliers do not seem to have them either. Doesn't look like its going to be that easy.

Yes, thankyou for those links, I have seen those. I guess more specifically the headlight Bezels are mounted using a plastic standoff, the service manual calls it a plastic nut (page 130-4 of the chassis service manual), I haven't found these anywhere. I thought the standoffs, springs and adjustment screws might be available at the same place or in a kit. So far no luck with the standoffs or a kit that includes them. Thanks again for the information you posted.

The Buick Master Parts Books show the GM part numbers which will help greatly in the search.

The standoff nut for attaching the headlight door is GM no 1383497. AMK Products shows their no B-15032 for the 1383497:

The spring is GM no 9790354. The adjuster screw and nut assembly is no 5953005. Later GM books show the adjuster screw separately as no 3996200 and the adjuster nut as no 3921446.

AMK may have all these parts. They show the spring as their no B-11747. The 3921446 adjuster nut shows up as their no B-12923. My computer keeps crashing this morning, so research could not be completed.

By Googling "GM 9790354" etc, even more sources of supply will show up. Many times the vendors only have Chevy, Pontiac, or generic GM applications and are not aware of Buick applications.

Guess I should see if I can find a Buick Master Parts Book....Awesome resource. Thanks Again.

Here's a link to the 1972 edition of the Buick Chassis and Body Master Parts Books. This one is ideal for '68 models. These show every part available in the dealership as of the date of printing (Feb. 1972):

The headlamp parts are shown around group 2.726 to 2.736. There is a good exploded parts view of the radiator support and headlights in the illustration group 1.000 chapter.

There are also parts books for other GM brands on that site.

Another site with lots of GM parts books is GM Partswiki:

These are for 69-72,

Not sure if/how 68 is different.

Larry,

Thanks for that. I didn’t have apart number when I posted originally but Todd supplied me one. These images at oldbuickparts do seem to be the same as the 1968 part. They say they are reproductions since new ones are not available. This AMK company appears to have them instock and I ordered from them last week. I'll post when I receive them to close out this discussion.

Just to follow up, I did purchase the Headlight standoffs/plastic nuts from AMK and just recieved them. They look identical except the AMKs are black plastic. The originals appear to have been a yellowish white that got painted black. But these are exact otherwise.
