Actually very little to do with russia over producing and more actually with Shell, Chevron & Exon Mobil over stockpiling and demand slipping due among many other reasons but to name one, the financial crisis throughout not only our country but the world as well starting in 2007 and taking till just last year to go into full swing. They have actually slow exploration and pumping due to surpluses. Thats why Shell shelved their Polar barge drilling campaign this past year. The companies do their forecasts apparently 7 years or so in advance.

Wait just a dang minute! There can't be a financial crisis anywhere, much less here. If there were it means someone is lying to us and that just can't be. You must take us for a bunch of dummies dud! Financial crisis, next thing you'll say is unemployment is at 25% and over100 million Americans are on some kind of government handout.

…. ha ha that's funny. However, the only thing I don't agree was the part regarding a …. " Government handout "

Our government by declaration and decree is constitutionally a government of the people, by the people and for the people. It is the employer of last resort and provider and protector of the commons. In that capacity it provides where others cannot or will not. With that said then, we the people if so necessary are being provided and cared for as is this, our type of government's duty and responsibility. A handout is what you throw to charity and people with signs on the side of the road.

Therefore, assistance is what is required to help and to aid. Yes it is true a large proportion of our population is receiving Government Assistance but it is not a hand out.

It is the employer of last resort </i>

weirdly, i did a Ctrl+F on the Constitution ... and found no references to "employment" or "employer" anywhere.

which, by the 10th Amendment, would mean that un/employment programs would be one of the innumerable functions and powers "reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."

it's quite odd, isn't it, that almost all of the un-Constitutional bullshit that the FedGov has gotten into since 1900 comes straight out of the Communist Manifesto? a central bank controlling interest rates and money and federal control of education are two more. they're getting pretty far along in destroying the family ( an openly stated Communist goal since 1850 and a founding principle of Marx and Engels ) as well.

FedGov policies ( such as drilling and exploration prohibitions or the refusal to permit pipeline construction ) don't have major effects on commodity prices?

huh.

that's one i haven't heard before.

The government wants to make it as difficult and expensive as they can for you to own and operate a motor vehicle.

government lovers, government haters, tea baggers or just plain simple minded mountain folk or not - let's all just give it a rest.

The price today for diesel was 2.56 on the left coast. Have not seen that for a long time.

let's all just give it a rest.

*shrugs* i wasn't the one asserting that plainly unConstitutional Federal powers are not only in the Constitution, but required functions of the Federal government.

once you realize that the things he's calling for:

a - are not and never have been in the Constitution
b - never existed from the Federal Gov ( there's nothing to prohibit your particular state from implementing such policies. you know, that pesky 10th Amendment again ) in any form until the 1900s, particularly Wilson and FDR. that's more than 100 years this nation existed without them
c - come straight from the Communist Manifesto

it gets a bit freaky.

this was Marx/Engels basic blueprint for what a Communist society would look like:
https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/1848/communist-manifesto/ch02.htm
1. Abolition of property in land and application of all rents of land to public purposes.
2. A heavy progressive or graduated income tax.
3. Abolition of all rights of inheritance.
4. Confiscation of the property of all emigrants and rebels.
5. Centralisation of credit in the hands of the state, by means of a national bank with State capital and an exclusive monopoly.
6. Centralisation of the means of communication and transport in the hands of the State.
7. Extension of factories and instruments of production owned by the State; the bringing into cultivation of waste-lands, and the improvement of the soil generally in accordance with a common plan.
8. Equal liability of all to work. Establishment of industrial armies, especially for agriculture.
9. Combination of agriculture with manufacturing industries; gradual abolition of all the distinction between town and country by a more equable distribution of the populace over the country.
10. Free education for all children in public schools. Abolition of children’s factory labour in its present form. Combination of education with industrial production, &c, &c.

we have partially or entirely implemented almost every single one of those ten points. weird.

The price today for diesel was 2.56 on the left coast.

if you know where to get it, diesel in northern Indiana ( particularly Elkhart, Lake and Allen counties ) is $1.89. which is just another reason for you to hate me.

SC, GA and MO are also usually very good. i found a good price out in the middle of WA off I-90 but i only stopped there once so i don't know if that was a one off fluke or typical.

....and it would be funny...

Most of these things are so made up, geez. I've got a life, I don't need to make up what somebody said to fit what ever.

Wouldn't you really rather drive a Buick?

Most of these things are so made up, geez.

*shakes head*

there are none so blind as those who will not see.

The Communist Manifesto is still in print, you can go look it up yourself.

the history is all there, should you choose to educate yourself.

or, you know, you can just go back to pg 26 of this very thread and compare gas prices from the US and Norway.

…. Geez now I'm getting gas from just reading all this soap box stuff :clonk:

So on with the show and a way we go ……………….

Yes,Lets all just give it a rest. All this government nonsense you guy are talking about is ridiculous.
That's the problem, it's been at rest far to long in this great country. Things need to be brought to light. That jug handle ears in the white house has been following the manifesto right along for seven years now! With willing accomplices in the legislative branch too. Thought I'd give away some cheep gas! Want to pay? Reg. 1.68 gal., Premium 1.97 gal. around here.

So on with the show and a way we go ……………….

*shrugs*

funny, isn't it? you're the one who starts talking politics and philosophy and 'in the Constitution', someone else who has actually bothered to look at the document shows up and debates the point and all of a sudden "soap box stuff" is verboten.

one thing i will point out:
i will never abuse my mod powers to threaten or delete or ban anyone for stating their opinion. i may disagree with you, i may do my darnedest to prove you wrong, but i'm never going to try to silence you.

if Bob ( the admin ) wants to ban *all* political discussion, that's his business as it's his board.

i got banned from V8Buick by one of the supermods who can't reason his way out of a wet paper bag ( and is a lawyer to boot ). so far as i'm concerned, i'll never do anything like that here.

…. Don't pat yourself on the back too much Mando and stop being a condescending a##hole implying your the only one that reads documents ! People will find it hard to take you seriously otherwise. Please.

If I made one mistake it was to reply to one of the posters generalizing about a certain segment of our society. For that I apologize. Nether one our comments or any of the last few posts including my own belong on this great automotive site. Let's get off this skate board and get back to talking about what I believe we all can agree on , cars and the price of gas in everyone's home town.
