Gas Prices

Here In New England
Prices fluxuate between 3.00 and 3.30
Premium is 3.59

I can't figure out the reason for such a price disparagy!!

Getty and Hess seem to be the lowest. Independents the Hightst, a cut above Exxon, Mobil & Shell

Price Gauging!

Other than taking unjust advantage of the American Public!

Since Bush is a Lame Duck President from Texas, I figure that he is taking good care of his fellow constituents before He retires

Citco, a small oil company made 7 billion profit in the First Quarter and 10 Billion Profit in the 2nd Quarter. That's more than the Gross National Product of MOST Countrys for a YEAR!

I wonder at Whose Expense did these HUGE win-fall profits effect other than me and you?

I think WE are taking it on the chin and should make a unified statement like....Not buying gas on a certain designated day! If gas is not sold there is No Demand which is a Expression We constantly hear by the media over and over. 2 days in a row would be even better. Fill up on Friday, Sat or Sun and Do not Purchase ANY Fuel Mon & Tues

This will have a drastic effect on other consumer Goods and Services.

It's just my opinion. I could be Wrong, but somehow I don't think so!

Regards,

Tom Gallagher

I hear you Tom, but the fact of the matter is that the U.S. economy depends on oil! Not buying gas for a day or two MIGHT make a statement, but the oil companies know sooner or later, you'll be back for more--or no trips to the grocery store, Grandma's house, or more importantly, WORK. I live in metro Atlanta, and after Hurricane Katrina affected the fuel supply here, I can tell you how scary the thought of our country without fuel is! There were stations running out of some, or all grades of fuel within hours. (this was the Wednesday after Katrina hit New Orleans) Granted, it (supposedly) was because of "internet gossip" that there would be a shortage, and everyone rushed the stations to get gas, which sucked many of them dry. Supply didn't return completely to normal until just recenly. Case in point: One of the reasons the allies were able to defeat The Axis powers in WW2 was by controlling their access to oil! No oil, (read: gasoline, diesel fuel) and your army goes nowhere! The same holds true of our economy. Can we give up our cars? Not practical. And remember: trucks bring nearly everything you rely on daily, to you. If they don't roll, things could get bad in a hurry, economically. Not to mention the already struggling airline industry--jets can't run on solar power! No, I'm no "doom and gloom" advocate, just a realist. However, let me summarize by saying: Hell yeah, I want gas prices to come back down!! I'm driving a '93 Saturn daily (25+MPG), and I hate small cars, but that's the only way to "afford" the gas! Just my 2 cents worth. Which if it were gasoline, wouldn't take you far! -Zach

Fuel Prices

Amazing! Truely Amazing!

After retailers state that High fuel prices will effect the holiday season's purchases which greatly relate to the enonomy, Fuel Prices conveniently dropped.

After all there has to be some proof that there is a Santa Claus, to keep the dream alive.

Watch $prices$ rise over Turkey Day for the trip to Grandma's due to " an increase in demand"

What a pile of "Donkey Dust"

After the Billions of winfall profits the first 2 quarters it is quite obvious that they are screwing around and taking advantage of the General Public.

The Government is permitting this. Wait an see what happens when people don't have the money to $pay$ for heating this winter.

the problem is not and has not been whether or not the profit margin is 'sufficient' for years.

the problem is that US gasoline refining capacity is at 18 million gallons per day while domestic demand is at 20 million gallons per day. that's a 2 million gallon per day shortfall.

prices WILL increase until demand FALLS. PERIOD.

you don't like that simple fact ... the next time you see an environmentalist you should slap the dumb shit.

that happens often enough, maybe we'll get some new refineries built. hell, let's get crazy, maybe we'll even get those stupid drilling restrictions on the Great Lakes and Florida coast (both introduced within the last 5 years) lifted so we can buy oil from ourselves instead of subsidizing crazy ragheads.

Re: Gas Prices

:waving: Hey Bob,

A Turban is not a "Rag" or a "Towel". It is actually a "Sheet"

To be Politically Correct we should call them "Little Sheets" :laugh_4:

Arabs with a Turban are a "pull start". The ones with the "dot" are a push start!

Regards, :beers:

the ones with the dots are not muslim or arab ... they're hindu indians. also, some of the the 'sheet' heads are Sikhs. also not anything like islam.

WalMart tonight in the FL Panhandle was $2.37, 76 at Circle K was the same.
Earlier in the week, I was at $2.65 in Los Angeles County.

The problem as Bob stated is that the oil companies create artificial shortages at the refining point. When they were "de-regulated" they soon realized that they no longer were required to build new refineries and thus had control over the supply side of the equation. So fifty have shut down and none have been built in the last 30 years. They tested out the theory to double or more gas prices by phony shortages beginning in '74 and every few years thereafter.

Even the slow-to-catch-on general public started to ask about the record profits just announced. If they were "passing on" increased costs, why did the profit margin increase.

The wonders of de-regulation never quite "trickeled down" to the regular consumer. The answer is for ne regulations to be placed in effect requiring the oil companies to build new refineries and stabilize the supply. It's all to convenient to blame the Arabs these days. They may be to blame for a lot of problems, but are a red-herring on this one.

The only reason it is going down now is that someone is starting to question this practice.

Rush Limbaugh -- whether you love him or hate him -- had a couple of good segments on the supposed gouging of oil companies. While they make .10 per gallon profit, the government makes ~.46 per gallon so who is gouging the public?

Unfortunately, the segments have rolled over into the archive and aren't available any more.

Welcome to the real world guys. The rest of the world has been paying $3+ a gallon for years. I travel to the States on a regular basis and every time I get of the plane I cannot believe the number of SUV's and pickups that clog the freeways, and ususally with one occupant.
The US with less than 10% of the worlds population uses more than 25% of the worlds energy and now the rest of the world wants to have the same living standard that you and I enjoy and the only way thay are going to get that is with higher energy use (read OIL).
You are currently importing 50 % of your OIL requirements which means you have to pay World prices, like it or not.
One thing you can be sure of is that Oil is only going to get more exspensive as more third world countries develop.
You have to stop living in the past. I can remember when gas was less than 30 cents a gallon and a loaf of bread was 10 cents but then I was only earning $17 a week.

Gas is dropping like a rock

I posted this on another board on 11/08 Gas has gone down even more since then.

I went on http://www.gasbuddy.com and went through the list of states to see what the lowest prices on gasoline are.

Gas prices are starting to break the $2 barrier in many states. Most states still remain over $2 especially in the population centers.

Just so noone will misunderstand -- these prices do not mean that ALL of the stations are at these prices; or ALL stations are below $2; or ALL states are below $2; or ALL grades of gas are below $2 -- here's the caveat:

These prices reflect the lowest price for REGULAR gas in each state in SOME localities. The price is NOT indicative of prices throughout the ENTIRE state.
http://www.gasbuddy.com also lists the highest prices in every state as well; but if you want those numbers, or want to make your own chart, go do it yourself.
