Edelbrock Carb

My 340 has an edelbrock 1400 600cfm carb When the engine gets hot its a bitch to start Twice now after a drive to the gas station it won't start I had to use a lot of starter fluid to finally get it to turn over about 20 minutes of sitting. Car starts no prob when cold almost like there is no spark bad coil maybe? I would think that it should fire right up after a couple of squirts of starter fluid? Any suggestions hoe to remedy this situation Like its not to embarrassing FFS.

Does it fire or kick on the starter fluid? If it does, it may more likely be a fuel delivery problem than an electrical problem.

There was nothing on the first couple of sprays , it just cranked. I changed the coil today put on a MDS Stage 2 Blaster other than the cheap no name amazon one went for a cruise then left it running for another 10min in the drive way shut her down waited 5 min didn't pump the pedal and it fired right up maybe a coil issue I've heard that edelbrocks are notorious for hot start problems

I'm going to heat wrap the fuel lines and coil wires and anything else that is close to the block

It could be the higher alcohol content in the fuel. I was driving my '49 GMC truck last weekend (it was pretty warm here in CT) and when I stopped I could see the fuel in the glass filter bowl boiling. I've read the keeping some Marvel Mystery Oil in the tank can raise the boiling point of the gas a bit to help prevent hard starts. I like your idea about the heat wrap on the fuel lines. My steel fuel line passes by the radiator hose. Any heat wraps that don't look too ugly?
