Hello, I'm new to this board and am in the process of restoring a 1967 GS400 and reviving. a 1971 GS455 to use as a driver. The 1971 had been taken apart prior to me getting the car and the sheet metal is not aligned well. I'm looking for some feedback form people that might be able to tell me what I should expect for a bottom door panel gap. I have the gap even at this point and the rear of the door is right with the upper body line. To get the front fender upper body line right I will have to clearance the B pillar mounting hole to get enough height, this will also cause me to add a considerable amount of shim to the radiator support to get the front of the fender to bolt up.

A lot of people extend a portion of a fender or door edge gap by running a bead of weld along it then grinding it smooth. You can close a gap a fair amount.
If you are going to be fussy about gaps, you should be starting at the frame and making sure it is straight and flat. Over the years if it has been hit, sometimes only a small fender bender can tweek a corner so that it is no longer right. Then when you start mounting the body and fenders they won't quite fit. Of course they can not quite fit as nicely as some people want anyway.
