Alternative VIN location(s) for '67 LeSabre

Hi,

I'd like to know where possible alternative locations for the VIN are on my car - so other than the plate on the driver side door pillar.

I just found out that it maybe is also stamped to the engine, but where exactly (340 in my case)?

Thanks!

Cheers,
Harry

@Dr. Frankenbuick

Thanks, but are there no other "hidden" locations? It seems a bit odd that all VIN locations seem to be on removable/exchangeable parts - that would make VIN-forgery pretty easy.

Cheers,
Harry

The vin is also stamped on the frame on left hand side near the rear tire. The engine vin is stamped onto the engine. It would be a very complicated procedure to mill the surface and re-stamp the engine block undetected because of the location. Then adding the matching plate in the door with correct, original, undisturbed rivets is generally a guarantee it is an original car. There is also a Protect-O-Plate associated with the warranty in a booklet often found in the glove compartment. These have the stampings found on the engine transmission and rear stamped in the booklet. If the Protect-O-Plate matches the date codes and identification codes stamped on these parts, and the vin matches the engine and frame (if you can find it), this is an original car with its original engine transmission and rear end.

Here is the what is listed for the 300 and 340 serial number and production code in the link provided earlier:

For 300, 340 V8s:

The engine serial number is stamped on the left front face of the crankcase, just below the rocker arm cover. On cars equipped with power steering it will be necessary to remove the power steering pump bracket to view the complete number.
The production code number is stamped on the right side of the crankcase and can be viewed between the middle branches of the right exhaust manifold.
