68 Rivi FiTech addition seeking any info on in tank fuel solutions

No after market tanks available. 69's had in tank pump for carb but provided no baffling or reservoir.
Any info, experiences, solutions welcome.:clonk:

I don't believe FITech requires an intank pump. My TBI does not. Just an in line pump. 12,000 + miles on the rascal.

External pump can have heat and noise issues. That's why the factory generally uses in tank units. The Rivi was supposed to be grand touring car and I drive primarily in the So West. AZ in cabin temps when left in a parking lot can be 150 degrees. Streets surfaces are hotter. Primary reason for going EFI is to get around vapor lock.

there's no like year FI conversion for the big body Chevrolets from 1968?

the Riv probably used the same or very similar fuel tank.

have you asked over at www.RivOwners.org?

Maybe a deuce and a quarter, but Rivi's were unique. A-body Buicks are more or less Chevelles with some drive train changes and there are custom tanks with all the stuff built in available for them. I have a picture for you of the tank but I don't see any way to load it. ROA are mostly resto guys. When they modify the ones I've seen spend Mega bucks and put a frame under it and change everything. I contacted BCA and Modified div but no luck.

I know well those AZ temps. Not quite as bad here in TX. I have my pump mounted on the outside of the frame rail and there is a return line.
No vapor lock is the main reason for me , too. Plus about as perfect as one can get on air/fuel ratio. Todays gas is made for FI. I love mine.

Tank pick up options

Thanks, looked at the option links you sent. Leads to question, did GM ever provide a 5 on 5 lug 15in "mini spare"?
I suppose if I cut out the whole trunk pan mounted the spare vertically on one side and a long narrow tank on the other I might still have room in the center for a couple of carry on bags. Seems like it would be cheaper to just cut off half the top of the stock tank and weld on a shorter box that would have a 6+in flat spot to mount the pump and assy like the "universal" pump mount shown in the 2nd link. I had been looking at that unit as provided by Tanks Inc . It can reach 11 in deep and requires a 6IN plus dia flat spot into which you drill a 4 1/2 in hole to put the unit down through. I'm following a lead on a guy in Phoenix who has done a number of EFI conversions on Buicks. Will post results.

Remote Reservoir

I have seen some FI conversions that can use a remote fuel reservoir. The OE mechanical pump feeds the reservoir usually mounted on the firewall. An electric pump in the reservoir feeds the FI unit. That way the OE tank and lines can be used.

Remote Reservoir

Should have put this in the first reply. Edelbrock makes the remote reservoir, pump and all the bits necessary.
