67 skylark with skirts and rally rims

67ndSkylark

Newbie
My dad and I are in the process of restoring a 67 buick skylark 2 dr coupe. We had purchased a set of 14x6 buick rally rims with a 3 1/2" bs.... Model 57rims.... We put our first set of tires on the front with 225/75r14 and they fill out the wheel well beautifully. However, when we put those same tires and rims on the back, it appears that if we let it down off of the jack, the skirts are going to hit the tire as well as the rim. I was wondering if anyone out there is running a 14x6 buick rally rim on their 67 skylark and if so, what size tire are you running and do you have any problems with the tires or rim rubbing the skirt?

P.S. - I know the skirts are ugly but you know how dads are... They do love them fender skirts.

Ever find your answer? I'd like to retain my skirts as well, and was looking at doing the exact thing yous are doing, same specs and everything.
It'd be a travesty to have to run narrower than a 225 series. :)

Tire size.

I have 205/75-14 tires on my 67 Skylark with fender skirts and they fit fine with no rubbing of the wheel or the tire.
