Want to remove this for ease of painting, ( the cast iron piece from head to head ) is this seal an o ring and is it easy to seal again or is it a issue.
Thanks

From pictures, I believe it is two bolts and a gasket on each side.

Looks like Felpro 11379,

Don't see it being an issue unless you break bolts. Use anti seize upon reassembly.
Question is seal to timing cover, its a slip in seal.

The only thing that will come into play is how much corrosion is inside the cover where the o-ring goes. ALL the corrosion needs to be removed or else it will start leaking again in short order. When they are really bad I've used two o-rings. For the more common corrosion I use an inner valve spring shim 060" thick. It is the same ID of .625". Cut down the OD to fit inside the cover. This puts additional pressure against the o-ring for a more positive seal. ALSO use RTV Right Stuff sealer.

Ahh, I see, the hole at the top of the timing cover. Missed that because of the front mounted distributor on the 67 and up V8.:)
