350 question

Hello everyone! First time Buick owner and forum poster here. I recently bought a ‘67 GS that has an olds 350 and TH350, which is less than ideal.

I’m working with a pretty small budget, but I found a 70 Lesabre Custom 350 auto for sale, running and driving with working AC, PS, and all the works.

I understand that the my car originally came with a 340, but I would like to get a Buick driveline back in my car. My question is: will I have an issue swapping over the driveline at all? It’s kind of a stupid question, I assume there isn’t a different between engine mounting locations.

I plan on using the engine (plus accessories), transmission, steering wheel and maybe any other working parts.

Does anyone know what else will work?

most of the issues you will have will arise because of the Olds conversion, as the only short block difference between a Buick 350ci and 340ci is the bore size.

however, the valve order on a 350 is different from all previous gens of the small block Buick family so cam, heads and intake are not compatible with previous years.

the "SP" code engine from 1970 was the highest OEM hp rating that any Buick small block ever had and part of that comes from the one year only shallow dish pistons.

the Le Sabre is a longer car so you'll probably need to use your existing drive shaft or have a custom one made.

Thank you for your response! Do you think the accessories will line up correctly and work? Essentially, I want to take my car from being a runner with no anything, to a comfortable driver. Supposedly the everything works on it, so I should be able to hook the AC and PS up with no issues, correct?

one would think.

all of the attachment and mounting points should be pretty much the same between the Buick 340 and 350.

the 1967 Chassis Manual will cover everything OEM on your car:
https://www.teambuick.com/reference/library/67_chassis/index.php

the 1971 Chassis Manual should answer any questions you have about the Buick 350 and mounted accessories:
https://www.teambuick.com/reference/library/71_chassis/index.php

you can also get an HEI distributor from 1975-80 Buick 350s if the points give you any trouble.
