1964 Riviera Drivers Side Door Skin Removal

Removal seems like an almost impossible task since removal of the outside mirror appears to be almost impossible w/o destroying the mirror. Pieces involved are potmetal and easily broken. Is there any solution at all?
Why did Buick make this such an impossible task? Is there any workable solution out there??

Looking at a replacement HERE it appears that there is one screw that needs to be removed, is it possible to drill out the screw? Or maybe go in with Dremel and grind the head out?
Just thinkin'

as for the mirror he cables get removed from the control stick. they are color coded on both the cables and controls. sometimes the nuts can be trouble, but they do come off. not as bad as it looks. it's about an hour job give or take. they do sell a replacement nut kit. it's not cheap though. Buick parts place in north jersey is the guy. not too friendly to deal with but they have what's needed to do the job. good time look at the window regulator as well. clean lube it or replace if needed. good luck
