1962 Buick lesabre generator 401

Newbie
Trying to paint engine compartment in my Lesabre and noticed generator mounting ear was snapped in half. I ordered a rebuilt ac delco model. Looks nice but top mount is not offset like old one and it will not work. Any suggestions?

Thanks

Brock

You could take the two halves to a welding shop and see if they would be comfortable with a repair. Although, I guess it might be more money than a rebuilt generator. Being as you already have the rebuilt generator, you could have a look on ebay for a used generator with the correct mount.

I bought the delco rebuild that they sell, the issue with new one is ear is not same location on top. Does anyone sell different bracket/longer that would work? Also can the mount only go on one way? Maybe I have that on wrong

If the old generator has a different ear than the new one, the new generator probably is not for your car. The ears are primarily what dictates the application or the generator.

If the old generator mounted to your car, the bracket was mounted correctly. You could have the bracket modified.

Your best choices are;
-Return the generator and get the correct one.
-Find a correct generator and salvage the bracket, it probably swap out on the generator you bought, or when you find a generator, take it to a rebuilder and have it fixed.
