Hello from New Zealand

I have recently brought a 1939 Buick 46C, it was sold new in NZ and is therefore right hand drive. It needs quite a lot of work which I am happily working through. I have the common issue with the worn out Torque ball. In reading the various blogs it is a 1 year special for that year only. My challenge is finding somewhere in the world that can reline the torque ball. I have tried all the usual Buick places online and so far not had any luck. If someone could assist with who to contact that could reline the torque ball that would be very help.

I have attached some photos of a refurnished torque ball that is what I want to get done. Also attached a photo of some Buicks in NZ

Personally, with as little as these cars are driven today, why not consider finding a hoist repair shop that can reline hoist brakes. The linings are a tight, hard woven material akin to Model T Ford transmission linings; this looks to be formed and bonded to the ball much like modern brake shoes are done instead of riveting. Just a thought... I would guess that material is not only a bearing surface but a lube seal as well. Is it normal to have to adjust that as in a valve packing arrangement? Nowadays GORE TEX may be a solution. Some reading for your pleasure below... Bill in TR USA
