1968 Wildcat 2 Dr. original paint

General Information

This year Wildcat was always on my "rust bucket list" Found it in Alberta 2 years ago and have been rounding up parts for it ever since. Recently purchased another 2 Dr. Wildcat as it had the Custom Sport interior and tilt wheel I was looking for. Having a 550 Hp. engine built for it as it should go as nice as it looks!

Thanks Bob, Spent the last two days removing the interior and pressure washing, prepping, and painting the floors with POR15. also had to redo all the dried out body seams. The pans were in amazing shape and only needed a light
sand. Next, the Custom Sport interior, buckets etc. goes in.

My Buicks down here in New Zealand, the '68 red & black Wildcat custom 4DrHdTp owned for 31 years, (430,turbo400); black '67 Electra 4DrHdTp owned for 24 years,(430,turbo400); white '68 Wildcat Custom Sports coupe bought in 2008 from Everett, Seattle, Washington off e-bay for $740 ( on the way to becoming red with black roof ,430,turbo400, floor shift, bucket seats, tilt steering; '66 Skylark convertible that I'm putting a 425 Nailhead & switch-pitch 400, floorshift, bucket seats; & 5th, a bit of a project, but good bones, a '63 Wildcat sports coupe, 401,superTurbine400, bucket seats, floorshift & centre console

That's quite the herd of Buicks! I have to store my Wildcat in a nearby warehouse for the winter without access to the car.I managed to get the Custom Sport interior installed this past summer and after a 2 year search, finally located the shifter linkages to convert to console shift. They don't match the illustration in the manual as they are from a 65 Wildcat. I hope I can make them fit. here's some interior pics after the swap.

Hi there, I hope this is where I can comment ? Your "Flock" Headliner, where can that be sourced for the Custom Sports coupe, including any mounting bits ?

I'm not aware of any source for the headliner. My car had the basic interior which included a conventional headliner held in place by a series of bows. It was all torn out when I purchased the car. The parts car I purchased had the Custom Sport interior where the headliner is actually composed of 5 or 6 cardboard panels. The rear most panel tucks behind the upper rear window surround and into the ends of the long (now Chrome) side trim above the quarter and door windows. An inverted (U faces down) U channel metal strip butts up to the leading edge of the cardboard panel and is screwed onto the substructure above the rear side glass. No screw holes were present so had to be drilled. I screw in the centre of the roof as well if I recall. The Black trim plastic strips fit into the inverted U channel and is wide enough to hold the rear panel in place and so on until you get to the front. The down side, I don't think any supplier makes these panels or the mounting U channels and trim strips. In the pic, you can see I haven't installed the front panel above the visors yet. On the plus side, If you find the parts, It's a do it yourself job. no need to send to the trimmers.
