Up - Date on Projects by Jim Carmichael

I haven't updated the progress lately on my projects as the blog section seems to have changed and all of my old post have disappeared. I can't even seem to find a way to start a new entry but that might just be because I'm too old to figure it out. The 1955 Buick must have felt it wasn't...

57 Buick Door Panel metal bands?

I used plastic pins to hold the door panels to the door frame and just stapled and glued the material to the panel board on my 55 buick.

What happened to the blog section

I wanted to update the progress made on the 1965 Buick Riviera GS but the section seems to be missing. First the name changed now it's gone so maybe it was not that popular. For those of you who want to see what is still happening you can follow along on my flickr page...

    10226 Views?

I was very surprised to see there were 10226 views of my post showing the tilt wheel installed in my 1955 Buick. There were zero comments so I think that must be a mistake as most of my posts show less than 1000 views. The problem with posting in the journals is a lack of feedback from the...

    Pictures of The Grandson's Engine

We finished the engine except for a few items and here are some pictures of it and Travis.

Building a car for the grandson

My grandson Travis is eleven yeras old and we started out by building a Cushman engine just to see if he had any interest. He did fine with that project so we picked up a 1931 Chevrolet 5 passenger coupe. It was just the body and frame so we rebuilt the 322 nailhead I took out of the 1955 when...

    Update on Buick Projects

I have been busy finishing several projects and starting on the next. I purchased a 1965 Buick Riviera Gran Sport with the original dual quad 425 CID engineand it runs good but needs some rust repair, paint and the interior redone. If anyone is interested they can check out the continuing...

    1965 Buick Wildcat

I haven't posted since they changed the format as it has been too confusing for me to find where to put things so I hope this is the proper spot. After finishing the 1966 Buick Wildcat GS convertible I showed it to the original owner who bought it back but I still had the parts car purchased...

1966 Buick Wildcat GS Convertible Gone!

After finishing the Buick I took it up to show Lou, the original owner and he wanted to buy it back so I sold it to him for just what I had invested in it with nothing for my time. I'm not rich but if I had charged him more I would have just had to pay it all to Uncle Sam. Another summer...

    1966 Wildcat GS Convertible

I have all but finished the work on this car and am very pleased with the results. If anyone is interested they can check out the complete picture history of the project on my flickr page; http://www.flickr.com/photos/buickfan/sets/72157624515905223/

    1966 Buick Wildcat GS Convertible

The Buick is coming along nicely and I have been able to put all the lower stainless steel trim back on after making new clips. This car is one of the best looking cars I have had the pleasure of working on. I am hoping to have it done for the Puyallup, WA Buick meet on June 18th 2011. Lou, the...

carb spacer for 401/425 Buick Nail Head

I have found quite a few carbs mounted without the metal heat shield and the exhaust will run right under the fuel chamber and eat a hole through it over time.

    Skirts/Visor for 1951

I put a set of their skirts on my 52 but did not like the way they looked so modified them so they had a straight line on the bottom. Here is how they looked with a strange "dog leg" on the bottom. This is what they looked like after modification.

    Need Tire advice

I used B F Goodrich 215 / 70 R 15 touring white wall which is 1 inch. I purchased them at Less Schwab for $765. 85 including mounting, balancing and an alignment on my 1966 Wildcat. I wanted a tire that sounded like it was made in america and they could have been original equipment.

    Nailhead Intake Manifold Question

I purchased a new Offenhauser dual 4 barrel manifold on EBay that was listed to fit a 322 engine. When I checked it out it was too long to fit the 322 so I assumed it was for a 401 / 425. I just tried to install it on my 401 in my 55 Buick but found out it is the right length but too narrow for...

    Build Sheet Question

I located the build sheet for my 1966 Buick Wildcat GS convertible behind the right front seat back but have not found any way to tell what the numbers mean. If it was a Chevrolet there is a good site that has that information but I don't think Buick would be the same. Also my paint code is 1...

    Chrome Bumper Finally Arrived

I sent all the information to Ebay that I had on the person who had not sent me the chrome bumper I had paid for and 2 days later recieved an email saying the bumper had been shipped. Moral of the story is even if the time has expired if you have saved the information in a file send it to EBay...

    Warning About Chrome Rip Off

I purchased a rechromed bumper on EBay from a vender named partsgalore58 for my 1955 Buick that was a pretty fair deal as it included the bumper guards for $507.00 including shipping. The seller is located in California and has used several different names with fair feedback but not too many...

    Puyallup Buick Meet 2010

I just got back from the Buick Club meet in Puyallup, WA and saw the 1952 Buick I called Wally. It was one of the cars I have had the pleasure of working on. The new owner is very nice and he loves the car and is keeping it in great shape. When it was sold it went through a dealer so I had...
