72 Skylark wipers won’t shut off

I assume you move the switch to off and they keep running? Defective on-off switch? Unplug the wiper motor until the problem is resolved.

    Preservation of Trunk Jack Instructions

I don't think having the dried out shrunken and fragmented original sticker as opposed to a repro is going to effect the value of your car in any way.

Buy a new one. Most models especially A Bodies are available on line. Do both a Google and eBay search.

    Got a new wagon!

Well then I bow to your experience and age. I thought I was addressing a 30-40 year old who actually considered a 96 as an old car. Yes I understand passing the torch as there are many days that I don't even feel like setting up the lift to get under the car. Thankfully the days are long...

    Got a new wagon!

The fact that this vehicle is on the OBD2 system the very system that is still in use today and the dealers claim they can't work on it is pathetic. Purely profit and not customer driven. Get yourself a decent OBD2 code scanner and scan for trouble codes. Don't always expect an old check...

    LeSabre door rattles

The window not going all the way down could be as simple as something in the bottom of the door causing the rattle to a stop adjustment up to a bind in the regulator. You just can't predict this stuff without the door card off and watching the windows operation.

    Steering Column

Obviously your question was never answered along with the debate here. Two suppliers come to mind, ididit.com This would be my first choice for direct replacement of a column shifted or floor shifted tilt columns. flamingriver.com These guys are more geared toward hot rods but do have direct...

    Steering Column

The GM collapsible steering column in use since 1967 is just that a collapsible column. It has nothing to do with the rag joint used. Using a later style joint on an earlier column will do nothing to make the older car safer. In the event the front crossmember is pushed back towards the...

    Steering Column

I always wondered what the internal GM politics were behind the Riviera getting its own body designation and the Grand Prix continuing to be a B body until it went mid sized in 1969. Especially when you consider they both came out for the same model year of 1963. Yet oddly enough when the...

    Steering Column

I'm wondering why you would do something like this? Just to have a tilt wheel? You do realize that 1967 and newer manufactured vehicles have the collapsible steering column for safety in case of a frontal impact. To keep the wheel and steering shaft from killing you like the older cars did...

    Th350 vs th400 swap from st300

Just another note as if you weren't convinced of the impractacality of the turbo 400 already. When I changed over my 69 Cutlass from the jetaway 2 speed (same transmission as the ST300) to a Turbo 400 (I had a V8) I had to replace the parking brake cable that ran from the pedal to the shoe...

    LeSabre door rattles

Of course that's assuming it is the door and not something inside. Have you checked the 3 screws that retain the latch plate to the door? It could be the window guides are out of adjustment but also could have lost their felt covers or the plastic clips that retain the door linkages have let...

    LeSabre door rattles

Then it sounds to me like the 2 rubber door stops are missing on the part of the door where the latch is. If you dont have the 2 blocks of rubber there one high one low then that's exactly the problem you'll have. Check against the passenger side door. If they are there then it's an adjustment...

    LeSabre door rattles

You need to narrow down the problem first. Does the door sag at the hinges? Can you grab the door and move it up and down? If when you close the door it's hitting the striker pin instead of going around it the door will not close properly. Check the alignment of the door to the rear fender to...

    New member, old car

Nice car, '58s are over the top. I think it's funny that each bumper has more steel than a Prius and the grille probably outweighs a smart car.

    Trim plate Electra 1968

8 track players were under dash and dealer installed back then so when it stopped functioning it may have been removed if it was ever there at all. Also a tech could have taken the box out of the trunk and put it in his Skylark with the original owner none the wiser. Rear defoggers were a...

    Trim plate Electra 1968

Just taking a shot in the dark here since no one else has with logic as my guide, is it possible that the Electra 225 Custom Limited has no options? If I remember correctly the Limited package was all inclusive leaving no boxes unchecked on the order form. Do you have full power interior...
