The straight 8 is finally out of Covid jail and we trying to get back on the reassembly. The engine is a 53 with solid/mechanical lifters and a manual transmission. The rocker adjusters are severely worn and need to be replaced. The existing adjusters have the holes for oiling and all I can find...

I am looking for the adjusters, not the rocker arms.

I am looking for a little info on the rocker arm adjusting balls. Some of mine are severely worn and need to be replaced. The original have the oil holes. The replacements do not. Can anyone direct me to a source for the correct ones?

Hi Ben, I did not see your reply! Good for you man! I sent mine down the road to a local shop. He found a few more issues and I am working on gathering up all the parts for him. The one thing I cannot find is any replacement parts for the torque ball. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Can anyone lead me to a parts source for rebuilding a 1953 3 speed manual? I pulled the cover and the front gear cup drum (if I am using the correct term) is floating. the retaining clip is missing and I found remnants in the case. I have not torn down the transmission.

I am putting the engine back together and I am trying to get the paint colors close to correct. All the tin, valve cover etc are currently black. Is that correct? It does not appear as though they were ever repainted. The timing chain cover has no paint and very little rust. Were they plated? Or...

I am picking up the short block from the machine shop tomorrow night. I will post some pics, and some more after we finish putting everything back together. I probably won't get to drive it until spring. Snow will be flying soon.

Update...I opened up the old motor to see if I could find the problem. everything looked fine, brushes etc. Spun the armature a few times; spun freely. Put the motor back together and retested. It works fine. I'm not sure what I did, but I guess the problem is solved...I hope :)

I am trying to find a replacement fan motor for a 53 Special. The Delco part # is 5047666. I have not had any luck finding one searching online.
