So we got all the rat s t out of the car and tried to figure out what to do next. we decided the drive line was in order. Another good guy Phil (the birdman) gave me a straight 8 263 out of a 53 Buick. we drug it out from underneath a fence and took it home. now what to do for a transmission. i figured out if we are going to cruise around in a car with no seat belts trying to kill ourselves why not go fast so we contacted the good guys at Bendtsen's transmission adapter and they led us to a T-5 five speed out of a Chevy truck. they sold us adapters bell housing and everything to go with it. it came with instructions so when we finally read them it went together perfect. Of course we had to fabricate new motor mounts, new transmission mounts, a way to mount the emergency brake handle we are going to an open driveline which is a chore in itself, ill go into that later

Next on the build was to figure out the firewall and the deck. we decided to to a temporary firewall and then do another when the car was bodied so we didnt curb the body guy in and this would make his job easier. we laid the deck out and had to shorten the frame some to make it look right. we purchased some seats from Rootlieb and they also made us new splash aprons. we positioned the seats and lined out where the gas tank and boxes will go. Next we will make new running boards and start on the gas tank and the boxes.IMG_2364.jpgIMG_2830.jpg

Took car to Squeak bell to get the headers made and the intake manifold fabricated. Will have four SU carbs off a Volvo mounted . I plan to have the exhaust porcelain coated and the intake ceracoated in silver.B391768B-7119-4542-B37D-FE4A1636BAC7.jpeg97C4BDBC-F991-46DD-B52C-F454215D3C3A.jpegFD34242B-7CDE-43D6-9D8C-ED27DB1DD421.jpeg

Got the running boards made and mounted. Had a battery box and luggage box made they will be painted the same color as the car

Ok it’s off to Fresno to get the body fabricated from scratch. Yun does it all with hand tools no machines. We will modify rear fenders from a 20’s Pontiac FAE20C29-BF54-4FCA-B842-DDA75C44C9AB.jpeg59470159-4DB2-45F3-93AA-623B22C38A27.jpegC52D7490-2409-46FD-A462-CBBC9FA1556E.jpegE4366EAC-AC97-40AE-AA35-EA2AC6307061.jpeg83A062C9-21B3-4A95-BE90-F54645D60F5C.jpegB07562F9-0F42-4952-BB04-708AFFA0566A.jpeg5CE2F069-1C45-4A59-9667-1FF678AB4135.jpeg7862FA46-30BD-4DBC-8B0D-0E969F56B433.jpegD0DA9193-8076-4A41-97A2-F7977F545846.jpeg

Got the car back from Fresno with all the body done, both rear fenders off a 30 something Pontiac he put the revel in them to match the front fenders and tied them into the running boards the guy doing the gas tank died so he never finished the tank so i had to have it sent to my normal guy who said he could do it. he can do most anything. we are about to have the carbs back from joe curto who is working on the linkage and we are finishing up on the rear end conversion to an open drive line. this was a real chore

Got the shaft machined to make open drive line. Getting exhaust finished and a ladder bar made to hold the rear end in place and a drive line loop made so I don’t kill myself Getting excited about gettin this guy to paint.

The speedster is now down to the bare frame the gas tank is painted and ready to install.we need to get the frame sand plaster and painted and then it’s ready to start putting it back together. The motor is at the rebuilders now and we’re hopping for the best. I’ll post pictures of the tank and boxes as the build progressesAC4B8F2B-7E21-4243-8333-EB6139AAA9BD.jpegF5DF1177-C2FC-4747-AED4-20019980D63E.jpegAC4B8F2B-7E21-4243-8333-EB6139AAA9BD.jpegF5DF1177-C2FC-4747-AED4-20019980D63E.jpeg11FE93D2-B36E-4944-9DD8-44B0A25A4C4D.jpeg07F595C4-DD65-4CCF-90AF-7288996DF5A0.jpeg
