Help - 1940 Special horn assembly

The rubber insulator or "Horn Button Separator" is available from Bobs Automobilia bobsautomobilia.com for $4.50 The part is HS-370 and it is on page 75 of the online catalog. I replaced mine at least 10 years ago so I can't recall anything helpful to this conversation.

Buick 40 Glass and moulding clips fasteners needed!

Oliver, probably the best supplier of any clip or fastener would be Restoration Specialties. I am sure they could ship to Germany. https://www.restorationspecialties.com/

Need help figuring out what the electrical problem is.

I had a similar problem and it turned out to be the Battery Disconnect Switch. This type of switch transmits current through the threads when the knob is turned down to make contact. Apparently the former owner of the car did not tighten it securely and corrosion built up on the threads due to...

Pre 1950 Owners Report in Please

I have a 1940 Super 4 door that I bought for $100.00 in August 1969. I has a 1948 50 series engine that was installed possibly about 1960. The car has been painted twice and was reupholstered about 10 years ago. The engine finally gave up in 2019 and just as Covid hit the car went into the shop...

    New Member Junkman

Welcome, Junkman, That was my CB Handle. I bought my 1940 Super in 1969 and still have it. I started selling parts in 1974 at Hershey probably as a byproduct of my parts searching. I continued until 2015 when my wife induced me to stop. Since EBay things are a lot easier and I have plenty of...

Which parts to rebuild my 1941 248

I am currently having the 1948 248 ci. engine in my 1940 Super rebuilt. I purchased the majority of my parts from Terrill machine in Texas. I found the prices to be most reasonable and Feltz Terrill answers the phone himself. I purchased insert rods from him (exchange.) I filled in with a few...

    Horn button removal 40 Special

I think that washer acts as a spring. I don't have my shop manual, I left it in the car when I sent it for an engine overhaul. It has been in the shop 15 months thanks to Covid.

There is also a foam rubber washer in the assembly, I think Bob's stocks it. It was 2014 or earlier that I had my wheel redone so I don't recall the order of assembly or what it does.

    46 320 rebuild with 49 up parts?

Terrill Machine Co. will exchange your connecting rods with those machined for inserts. Feltz Terrill is second generation in this business and is quite reasonable in his prices. In addition, the machinist who is rebuilding my 1948 50 Series engine for my 1940 Super is very picky was happy with...

She actually looks quite solid. Now all she needs is many hours and lots of money. Good luck!! I have owned my 1940 Super for almost 52 years and am still inserting money. She is currently undergoing an engine and transmission overhaul and then I will hopefully be done.

First time US car - Guten Tag from Germany

Lubricating the speedometer cable sometimes fixes a jumpy needle if the jump is caused by the cable binding in the tube.
