Really in trouble on my GS400 rear

I returned the gears to JD Race and he refunded my money except the shipping. Totally fair I suppose but the carrier was not correct. I had two different people tell me it was a chevy carrier. I believe in the end he did end up finding the right carrier with 7/16 threads but I had already moved...

Really in trouble on my GS400 rear

Quick Update: Contacted a rear end specialist and received a carrier with spider gears in it and a rebuild kit. Gave it to my builder and he stated it was a chevy carrier and not a BOP. Chevy screw holes were 3/8 and BOP are 7/16. My blown BOP was 7/16 so not a match. The rear end specialist...

67 GS 400 trunk torsion rods install

BTW, I really appreciate all the help I receive on these forums. I attempted to replace the torsion rods myself but just got scared of the torque necessary to get them into place so I chose to take them to a body shop. Took them two attempts but it is right now. All information I received from...

Really in trouble on my GS400 rear

Jim at JD Race hooked me up with a carrier and spider gears. Should be in the mail today or tomorrow. I sent him pics and he noticed another problem that I didn’t and set me up there too. He also didn’t gouge me on the price. Thanks all for your input. It is a struggle for me to keep this car...

Really in trouble on my GS400 rear

Hi Bob, That is a $400 to $800 option. I did find a Yukon unit that with bearings and seals would be around $600. This is my last resort if I can’t find the spider gears. I don’t race the car and won’t know the difference between an OPEN diff vs. a POSI. If you are referring to just the POSI...

67 GS 400 trunk torsion rods install

UPDATE. Went back to the shop and they corrected the problem. Seems the trunk hinge was hitting on the torsion rod on the left side. Now, on to the next issue.

    67 buick gs differential id

I am finally ready to fix my 293 rear end diff and am trying to remember some info because it has been about 10 years since it broke. I have been running a skylark rear but I want to get the original rear back in. My ring gear has a number printed on it, 1382267 41 14 GMC. I can’t find this part...

67 GS Power steering gearbox Leak

Yes I have cleaned it, ran the car and turned the steering wheel (wife in the car) while I was under searching for the leak. Seems like when the car sits after driving, it leaks at some point through the night. I seem to be adding 3 to 4 oz of fluid every 50 miles. I am sure it is not leaking...

67 GS Power steering gearbox Leak

At least I think the leak is from the gearbox. Can I use a dye in the PS Reservoir to determine where the leak is? Don’t want to mess anything up with the dye. Also, a friend mentioned I should just replace it. Thoughts on a rockauto rebuilt replacement. Thanks
