    Engine identification

Well... it is more than just promoting the website. I would also like to think we are promoting the car hobby too. Maybe just wishful thinking, but it still seems worthwhile.

    Engine identification

My experience has been that the serial number of the larger series engines is stamped just aft of the distributor and the smaller engines just forward of the distributor. (Engine Serial Numbers, of course!)

Wanted: Rebuildable 320 Straight 8 Block and Head

You will probably want one with hydraulic lifters and insert bearings (about circa 1949 and newer) and... the motor mounts are different starting, I think about 1948... so think about those two things when selecting a core.

    53 straight 8 pictures

That is not such an irregular oil fill cap... I have seen many of these, it is actually a gas cap of the "Molotov Cocktail" type. Very common once upon a time...!

    My First Buick

    1. Fender skirts available on ebay, new reproduction. 2. The fender skirt badges on 1941 cars are not all the same size... some are longer than others. You would want two that match each other. I believe that they are also not the same from side to side. I have no source for them. 3. Chrome...

    steering wheel restoration and recasting

Yup... I couldn't open it either. Maybe some setting needs to be changed on the original poster's Facebook page?

    1950 Roadmaster steering effort

Sure, but this is a two year old post now. Instead of being eighty two... he will be eighty four years young this week. Not so bad on the road, but tight parking spaces are another matter.

    Parts flipping

My biggest issue has been irreparable parts listed as only having cosmetic problems... this has happened to me several times now, generally the photos are taken to conceal the damage or falsely described as "cosmetic defects only". My last purchase was an ashtray with the bottom rusted out of...

    1940 Buick Restoration

As I recall, you had two of these? (Model 76C) Am I mistaken? It makes me wonder what happened to the second of the two, that is, if my memory serves me correctly. Incidentally, I am a bit ashamed to admit that your restoration is much farther than my own, I bought a disassembled 1940 76C some...

    Towing the 39 Buick

I should probably mention, the Buicks he used to bring back were his favorite years, 1939 to 1941. So, applicable.

    Towing the 39 Buick

I have a good friend who used to towbar prewar Buicks back from California to North Dakota on an annual basis... this was in the mid 1960s, and he never reported any problems with the concept. I cannot imagine why it would be any different today.

Anyone have a line on a 47 Fuel Pump type 530 for a Series 70 Roadmaster?

One caveat, if you were to happen to find a deal on a NOS rebuild kit, odds are that it is also going to be a generation old and likely not fit for modern fuels, either. I would avoid any old NOS kits. I would take a fresh rebuilt pump with new parts over some of the rebuild kits I have seen...

NEED HELP! 1966 Electra died while driving and wont start.

I am not familiar with electronic ignition conversions. That having been said... usually electronic ignition puts out a pretty solid spark. I don't know that a stock coil would do that... could you maybe have gotten the stock coil hot and eventually fried it out? It seems like a long shot as I...

    Steel wheel identification!

I don't know if I am going to be able to be any help at all on this, but it seems to me that mine had clips for the hubcaps to clip into place. Also, three pinstripes around the perimeter, with the middle pinstripe slightly wider than the outside two. So, this gives us some idea what it isn't...

    Straight Eight Bell Housing Question

The measurements have been taken, and it appears that this is not going to work. Every dimension is farther on the larger 320 CID engine. I am very grateful just the same to Stray Tate for saving me the trouble of shipping one here just to be disappointed. This forum is truly an asset. Thanks...
