I have a '62 Invicta whose body is off center a little, causing one of my rear wheels to rub intermittently. A custom shop advised me to get an adjustable panhard to correct it. They can custom fab one for around $500, I'm hoping I can find one for less - there's a guy selling one for a '62...
I removed my stock '62 Dynaflow a week or so ago to get a leak repaired. My tranny rebuild guy called me and said I needed a flywheel, as mine had several teeth missing and was probably causing starter damage. I searched for a flywheel with no success then found out that's not actually what that...
With the tranny out, I'm considering going with a 400 now too. I found one from a 1965 Wildcat. Will that work? What else will I need?
Thanks in advance for the help! Hope your project is going well.
Thanks for the feedback.
The leak is bad, it'd lose all fluid within 10 minutes if I drove it. $1800 sounds like a lot! Did you look around for a replacement? Why did it need a complete rebuild?
I'd like to upgrade but don't want to change the shifter pattern and haven't seen any 400's with...
Sooo I took a look under the car and it doesn't seem that difficult to do. Everything seems easy enough to get to. This is what I'm assuming:
1. Disconnect cooling lines
2. Disconnect shifter and parking brake release (both cotter pins)
3. Remove dipstick
4. Remove speedometer cable
5. Remove...
As discussed a few months back (in this thread: http://www.teambuick.com/forums/showthread.php?p=59482#post59482) it appears that I need to replace my front seal. I had someone that was going to help me with this but he moved away, so I'm thinking of tackling the job on my own. I've done minor...
Based on what I've read so far, I think you're right.
What parts do I need for the job? Is there anything else I could/should do while the transmission is dropped (mounts/other seals that are prone to failure/u-joints etc)?
Thanks!
I'd read another post with that recommendation, but somehow I think the leak might be a bit too bad for it to work. I'm probably losing a quart every 10 minutes, which tells me a swollen seal may not do a lot. Correct me if I'm wrong, of course.
Does anyone know what might be the cause?
I have a '62 Invicta with a 401 and a 2 speed (Powerglide, Dynaflow? It's stock!) transmission. Recently it started spewing transmission fluid from what appears to be where the bell housing meets the engine. From what I can see it only leaks if I start it and put it in gear. It's leaving a huge...
