Anyone know the original part number to a 1966 brick Riviera pitman arm. Mine is straight no bend 7"and has this number 5697250-1340 is it correct?

Terry, the Buick Master Parts Book from '72 shows the part no. is 5697251 (see attached). There is no listing for 5697250. Some similar '64 arms show the part no is one digit higher than the number on the casting. As we typically see on engine parts, the casting no is not the same as the part no. Going by this info, the arm numbered 5697250 looks to be correct for your car.

The 5697251 is a one-year-only, Riviera-only part. Like TelRiv indicated in the other thread, the Pitman arm is a part that does not wear out. So it is unlikely this piece ever needed replacement.

Send us a pic of the rag joint & we can usually tell IF it's bad by looking. I have the PROPER Rag Joints in stock.

Just left from talking to the mechanic he showed me where the centerlink on the pitman's arm had a lot play in it. Is there anyway to replace that grommet in the centerlink?

Terry,

YES it needs a rag joint pretty badly. The center link has to be sent out to get rebuilt. I here that Auto Zone/Advanced Auto can get one that's rebuilt already. Of course you have to either give it to them now or when you pick it up. Check it out. I know that at one time Rare Parts was rebuilding them, & still do, BUT back then it was around the $600.00 range. I'm pretty sure the pricing has come down since then.
How about the strut rod/brake reaction rod bushings???
How about the rear track bar/panhard rod bushings in the rear. You wouldn't think they would cause an unstable car, BUT believe me they do.
I have ALL this stuff in Poly if you need it.

I have all ready had the front suspension kit installed 10 years ago but I don't think they greased the upper and lower ball joints. Just had those replaced yesterday and also the idler arm but the center link no and how much for a rag joint complete not the kit?

I don't believe the rag joints come as complete units, BUT you could do a goggle search to find out. In 10 years you haven't had the oil, filter changed or a grease job???

Oil change, filter yes, greased suspension no. I don't drive it like that. I basically just start it up and let it run for a while.

13/16ths. splines, & IF I remember corrctly, the spline count on 3/4" & 13/16" are the same.

Usually when a vehicle is brought in for an oil/filter change the front suspension at least is greased at the same time????

I don't understand when you say "I don't drive it like that". What are you really saying???

I can see starting & letting it warm up for a coulpe minutes before driving as that's what many do.
