DUI distributor

Has anyone used one of these in their straight 8? I bought a pertonix module, flame thrower coil and pertonix plug wires but am thinking of getting a DUI instead. I haven't used the pertonix parts yet because I think it will be easier to sell if I go to a DUI.

They are supposed to be plug and play. I had a modified big cap HEI in mine for a couple years. Now have an original, modified with the GM HEI pick up. The GM module is mounted on the cowl.

DUI makes a GREAT HEI unit. Don't have a straight 8 but my 347 Stroker Loves that DUI dizzy.

Hi Kerry,
I made some hold downs and got the distributor installed. I have been working on the timing. The slope of the DUI curve is twice as steep as the shop manual. My DUI distributor calibration is stamped at 20 degrees at 3000 RPM (without the initial 4 degree advance). The lower end of the curve (below ~2000 RPM) is 5 to 10 degrees below the shop manual curve depending on my initial advance. I have been road testing initial advances between 8 and 16 degrees. It seems to run smoothest at higher degrees. At 16, the low end starts to match the shop manual, but the high end is 4+ degrees too high. Two questions: What total advance (without vacuum of course) did you set yours at? Did you have them change the calibration in any way?
Thanks
Ken
