Finally!! Here's a copy and paste of an email that I sent to a friend right after I finished it:
"This is the 300 V8 out of my Skylark. It's friggin' finally finished: First, the piston company sent the wrong pistons to the machine shop, so the shop couldn't bore the block for about a week. Then, ARP claimed that they didn't make rod bolts for this application, but I found a company in Arizona that specializes in Buick performance parts that had ARP connecting rod bolts for this application. Go figure. That took another couple of days.
Then I had to wait on the cam and lifters, as well as a tapered ring compressor in the correct diameter from Summit Racing. Of course, UPS didn't deliver these parts until after sundown, so installing the pistons and rings had to wait until the next day. Then I had to order the pushrods directly from Iskenderian. Of course, they weren't in stock, so I had to wait about a week for them to be made and then delivered. So, now I'm ready for final assembly, right? Sure...
Yesterday, as I'm snugging down the last for bolts (rocker shaft bolts) on the actual mechanical assembly, two of them strip. Dammit!! I find my Heli-Coil kit, but it's empty. So I get up this morning, go and buy a new Heli-Coil set, and I'm in business.
For what it's worth, I pulled the engine on the 17th of April. Sheesh.
No more oddball engine builds unless I have all of the parts in front of me..."

Holy sh!t!!! You've been through the ringer WAY worse than I have on this one. Although, I do have another story, but that one's about a Ford that I own. Short version: 11 years, and it still ain't close to finished...
