The Production numbers are out there
The 1970 GSX could be had with 4 speed or T400 auto trans. The standard 350hp/455 was the standard engine with the Stage one 455 option available. Also only available in Appllo White or Saturn Yellow. No vinyl or painted top available in 1970. Most of the other options avilable were available on the GSX(pwr windows/locks, a/c etc...). I'm no expert so I'm sure others have things to add. Any other questions?

Total production 678.
Difference: hood-mounted tacho, special graphics. They built 491 saturn yellow cars and 187 apollo white cars. 278 cars had standard 455/315 hp 400 cars had the 455/345 hp Stage 1 engine option. This is what I can find about the 1970 GSX.

Stage engines had the oversize valves (what most people are talking about when they talk about upgrading their engines to stage specs), hotter cams (nothing like what you can get aftermarket though) and re-jetted q-jets.
the oversize valves usually take up more room in the combustion chamber giving Stage engines slightly higher compression as well as better breathing.

I have a pic somewhere of a yellow GSX at Pomona swap meet taken in 1994 for $10,000US. I had just purchased a 1982 Collector Edition Corvette so was over my spending budget to buy it & ship it back to Aussie land. It was fitted with a manual 4 speed gear box. Was this a factory option.
