I have a Land Rover hybrid that uses a 1987 Range Rover engine. This engine is a 3.9 Liter ( Buick 215 cid ). When I put it all together I got rid of all computer controls, fuel injection, and cats. I installed an Eddelbrock manifold and a Holly carb, both purchased from Summit Racing for a Buick 215. It runs great but feels like the timing might be off a little. Land Rover and parts dealers tell me to set the timing 6 degrees before top dead center, the same as if it was still fuel injected. Does anyone know if this is correct?
Any help would be great.
You can e-mail me off list if you like.

I think your best bet is to advance the timing 1 deg at a time until you hear ping at WOT, then back off 2 deg. Then if you have a mid-throttle ping, put in an adjustable vacuum advance.

Factory settings are okay for stock engines, but once you modify all this stuff then you have to start again yourself IMO.
