I have a :shield: 215 that has been sleeved to 3.736. This is the same as the Chevy 305. I have been told the the 305 pistons will work. As there are several different styles I was wondering which type to use. I am using the 300 crank and heads, and modified Chevy 283 rods. I am looking for a compression ration near 10.25 to 1. I also want to install larger valves in the heads and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations what I should use. :shooter: FORD

Thank You

Randall,
I did one of those engines about 10 years ago for a guy with a Triumph TR7. Its still going strong with close to 100K miles on it. Real sweet running combination with an Edelbrock manifold and Crane cam if I remember correctly. I have all the info at the shop. I cant remember exactly which 305 pistons we used, but there really is not a lot of choice without going to a custom piston. You need to know what the cc of your combustion chambers are to figure the compression.
Hope this helps,

I was refering to the flat-top with 4 valve reliefs, dished, or domed piston. Do you remember the heads that were used, and what the compression ratio for those heads were. Did he use a 300 crank? I will be using EFI on this system, and have Lazer Cams make up a hydraulic roller for me.

I have built these engine combinations and I hope the following information will answer your questions.

FLAT TOP PISTON
The following information for flat top pistons should give you 10.25 to 1 compression ratio with a 54cc head.
Sealed Power Part#L2486F
silvolite KB Part#229 or KB143

OVERSIZED VALVES
All of the following valves have a 5/16 stem so you also need to change the valve guides.
Exhaust valves
Manley Part#11659-4 (size: 1.496)
Intake valves
ITM Part# RV4715 (size:1.732)
VALVE SPRINGS
Chrysler 360 springs and crane retainers Part#99947.

The rocker arms will also need to be shimmed .040 for the longer valve tip.

If you have any other questions please email me at enginetechmachinellc@yahoo.com or call the shop at (805) 928-7973.
Hope this helps.
