I have just recently purchased a 1955 Buick Special & I would like to change the steering wheel on it. Can anyone tell me who sells an adapter so I can change it to an after market steering wheel?

I too have a '55 buick special and had the same problem. I solved it by buying an old busted up '55 steering wheel from a junk yard for $25.00 and removing the center hub. I made a plate and welded the hub to the plate and installed a standard 13 " Grant wheel. You loose some mechanical advantage over the original 17" wheel, but with PS it all seems ok. Good luck, keep me informed as to the progress of your project. Always willing to help if I can, Larry.

P.S. Send me a picture of your ride.

We put an Ididit column on my 55 Buick. The standard steering wheel would not fit. Fix: get a donor wheel, cut out the center, and weld it into the old steering wheel! This kind of took the pivot horn out of the picture, but this was solved by rigging the center emblem with a spring contact switch to opperate the horn.

I don't think I can live without "tilt".
