I would like to get the vacuum washers and wipers operating on my '57 Special. Everything is there and in very good condition, but the vacuum lines have been disconnected from the washer bottle and it looks quite confusing to hook all back up correctly. Can anyone possibly help in this area ?? Thanks.

Myself I would not hook the washers back up. Had a pal that had the washer fliud somehow get drawn back into the engine and ruin it---I am sure it was hooked up wrong which caused the problem, but I won`t take the chance---we mostly drive these cars in good weather and not in the winter time when you would normally use them. My 57 had one line on the wiper motor to the intake and one from the wiper motor to the line on the engine block by the oil canister---this hook up was without the washer bottle being used. I don`t remember which line went to which, but it should show in your manual, do you have one,it`s a must. Good Luck!

PS. If your wipers don`t work after you hook up the lines---no fun the wipers work off your oil pump, pain to fix. Had the same problem, so I put in electric wiper motor from Newport Engineering, drop in set up, just need to run a few wires for the switch, ya got better wipers.

Thanks for the info bebop138. I would love to get hold of an electric change over. The only trouble is I am in Melbourne Australia, and parts like these are very difficult to locate. Could you possibly provide me some info on Newport Engineering ??? Maybe I can contact them and see what they have to offer an Aussie...Thanks again....
