I HAVE A 1934 AUBURN PHAETON THAT HAS WHAT I BELEIVE A BUICK MOTOR, WITH THE FOLLOWING INFO CAN ANYONE OUT THERE TELL ME WHAT THIS MOTOR IS? THE SERIAL NUMBER IS LOCATED ON THE RIGHT SIDE OF MOTOR ABOUT ONE INCH IN FRONT OF THE DIST. THE NUMBER IS:1339474. THERE IS A CASTING NUMBER ON THE INTAKE MANIFOLD OF 1338252. THE MEASUREMENT OF THE VALVE COVER IS 30 IN, CAN ANYONE HELP ME OUT FROM THIS INFO? I WOULD LIKE TO PUT ON A DUAL CARB SETUP ON THE MOTOR, THANKS MUCH FOR ANY HELP, RICH
You should check the buicks.net shop id info, If it doesn't answere your question, it will help. I think that the number being in front of the distributor means it is a small straight 8.

Are the heads and intake Aluminum?
In 64 it came in the Skylarks, and LeSabres. 65 also Skylarks and LeSabres. I could be wrong but I believe that the 300 was the standard V8 in the Skylark up until 1968, then I think it was a 340 that was the standard V8. I'll check the facts, but I think I'm right.
jjo, if you can get us the production code number and the engine serial number off the block, we can determine the year and possibly a little bit about the type of car it came from. Look under the Shop tab on this site, then click on Identify your Buick Engine. The 'year info' there will show the code letters for each engine type. The 'where the numbers are' selection shows where to look on the block. Good luck with the search.
