I just thought I'd start a chit chat topic. All car guys always have that car they want to get. So what's yours, buick or not. Since I already have my 1955 Special the next car I would like to get is a 68-72 Corvette Convertible. I've loved that car for as long as I can remember.

I'd like to find a 65 Skylark GS 3-speed manual transmission. Picky picky now my dream car is in the garage-my 65 Wildcat 4-speed convertible was a NJ rusted mess the day I turned 40, thats the day I decided to "invest" in a professional restoration of the Wildcat instead of buying a "I'm 40 and I'm having a midlife crisis" car.
I look at 1938 Century coupes closely too. Non-Buick looking at '48 Cadillac sedanettes-manual trans!

I also would like to get a 1956 Mercury. Either a Montclair or Monterey. I saw a montclair at a car show when I was a kid and I couldn't stop looking at it. I also have a thing for a 1957 Buick. It looks so similar to the 1955 but so different. Since I already have a 1955 Special though I think my next car is going to be the 68-72 vette. The mercs and 57 buick are to similar to my Special. I need to get something a little different. I might also consider a 1969 Mustang if I found the right one, but Mustangs just seem to be to common. It seems like everyone has one. I guess the same could be said for corvettes but I don't care because the 68-72 vette is my dream car.

Either a 38 century, or a 56 super.

I would like to bring my 63 Riv (65 front clip) back to its former glory. I might trade in the 03 Cobra for an 07 if the horsepower has a serious upgrade.

I turned 40 a couple of years ago. Looking at all of the projects that did not run in the garage or that were stored around the countryside prompted me to buy something that ran right then and how. I wanted to enjoy something today, and had never owned a new car before. The whole family has enjoyed two summers under the sun in a very fast convertible as a result. Looking back, I would not have traded that for any amount of promising future projects.

I knew how you feel-for a few months! I had the same thought as for a running car, so in July 2003 I bought and 03 Cobra convertible. Unfortunatly I wrecked it in Dec of 03, totalled it. But it was great for those few months! Back to the Buicks!

Sorry to hear that Ted. I hope everyone was OK. I guess you are not to stray from Buicks! Didn't I see a picture of your Wildcat frame with a Tremec T56 in it somewhere? Was the Ford responsible for some ideas or salvage parts in the making of a very cool Wildcat?

I like driving cars that are unique... when I sit in my '65 Riv, I think here is a car that is superior to alot of of new cars, a car way ahead of its time. Unfortunately many of these cars are the last of there kind, the last statement of memories forty and fifty years ago. Alot of people aren't interested in that, in what there fathers and grandfathers did. Now if I could afford it I would like a '57 Cadillac Eldorado Brougham with original stainless roof..http://www.classiccaddies.com/new_page_30.htm

No physical injuries, just a major blow to the ego! Still bruised. THe car went away completly-too many projects already. The trannie is from Kiesler. I think the Ford 6-speed doesn't bolt up to the bellhousing for th nailhead!

Ted, Could you describe the Kiesler trans? I was not aware of them. Is it similar to another trans? I recall it was bolted to the Nailhead bell housing. Did it need a special order length and size for the input shaft? Will any driveshaft or trans tunnel modifications be needed? I know that is a lot of questions, but it looked like an interesting, modern and durable trans. I am curious about the advantages compared to the T-10.

I think the T-56 could be used with the Nailhead using one of the Nailhead bell-housing adapters and the new modular bell-housing. I have been thinking for a while that a 6-spd Nailhead would be spectacular.

Without a doubt, a 65 Skylark. Already have the 401 and tranny. Going to use shorty headers. All I'll need is the Oil pan, and drive shaft. I think that's all that is specific for the Skylark with the 401 like a GS...

I already have (just recently purchased) the car I have wanted, but there are things to change on it to become the car I ALWAYS wanted.
1972 Buick Skylark (GSX clone) (Beautiful car, ugly drivetrain) You can see it in the show and shine. http://www.buicks.net/show_and_shine/nevets/index.html
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hmm .. an early R2 Avanti . . . or a Citroen SM . . . or a Citroen DS21 Pallas . . I got it! All three !

Actually, the next acquisition is already committed--I'm picking up a 49 Super the week before Easter . .
