Not sure if I have posted this here before, but a few weeks back, I was driving my knock-a-round 82 Ford Fairmont Sedan to work. I stopped for a red light, and the SUV behind me did not. Needless to say, my poor Ford was totaled. The insurance Company cut me a check a few days later, so I decided to get something that I have been wanting for a while. I purchaced a 92 Cavalier RS Ragtop. It has bucket seats, power windows, power top, CD Player, floor shift with console, and 3.1 EFI V6. It gets right up and goes as it is, and is in supurb condition. Of course, now I can't wait for summer!!

Now for some mods, MORE POWER!!!! I want either a turbocharger or supercharger....dual exhaust, etc...all the goodies graemlins/banana.gif

hey now, don't knock fords! atleast they're not imports! :)

However, i don't think a lot of guys on here are gonna be too much help with your cavalier, since it's a later model corporate motor, FWD and generally not something us on here would work on!

However, I know a couple guys up here that have done up their cav's a bit, but i've never seen one thats been turbo'd or S/C'd. What you could do is snag a dual exhuast end section from a similar model sunfire, and weld that on, or you could get a shop to do a custom job with an 80 series flowmaster for a sick exhaust note.
Other mods you could do are the usual cold air intake, chip the ECM, underdrive pulleys, blah blah blah.
doing an internet search will produce endless possibilites for you!

hope this helps!

Ben

graemlins/wavey.gif Hi Jim

I wish You Good Fortune with You New Driver. graemlins/hurray.gif

I know That Your Luck hasn't been the Greatest Lately. I hope You have Turned the Corner graemlins/thumbsup.gif

I hope You didn't get Injured. Some of the aftereffects of the type of collision you were involved in can linger and rear their ugly head at a later time.

I think You should have used the Insurance Check to get that '56 Sedan You were thinking on Purchasing :D LOL.

Glad You were able to get something Sporty.

Regards graemlins/beers.gif

graemlins/wavey.gif Hey Jim

LQQKING at your pictures. What motor is in that Lesabre? a 300?

You were pulling a Lot of Weight. The Trailer appears to be quite sturdy and Your Wildcat Looks like it Just fit on with quite a rear overhang. abet your were pulling better than 6,000 lbs. How did that 300 pull?

Any shifting of Cargo weight would change the tongue weight and balance, like a teater-totter and the trailer would be performing all sorts of tricks you never would expect.

Just Wondering

Tom Gallagher Hi Tom :D

That 300 pulled like a champ. I knew I had something on a trailer, but I did not feel that much difference in the power. It's not like I had to floor it to get up an upgrade or anything. The Convertible sat rather firmly as we had it tied down really good. As far as the boat, and camper (I have not put on a picture of that yet), If I did not look in the mirror, and see a boat or camper tailgating me down the road, I would not even know it was there!

Ben Thanks Ben...I have already joined a Cavalier web board, and I have been flooded with how to's and offers of, etc... :D

I have decided to put a Camaro RS Dual Exhaust system, it is almost bolt on with just a very few mods. As far as turbo, hood scoops for cold air intake, and one of those tornado thing-a-ma-bobs for the breather, and that should produce some extra power. I am not exagurating when I say that this Cavalier gives my Green Goddess a run for her money as it is, and trust me when I say, the Green Goddess is no slouch! It also blows most imports out of the water without very much effort at all graemlins/beers.gif

Hey Tom, graemlins/wavey.gif

You know...I never did hear back from that guy. My guess is that he is either not very interested in selling it, or he is some kind of moron   Either way, no skin off of my nose. If I really wanted one that badly, I'm sure I could find one. In the mean time, I have a

64 LeSabre Sedan ;)
64 Wildcat Ragtop :D
92 Cavalier Rally Sport Ragtop

graemlins/wavey.gif Hey Jim,

That BIG '56 Sedan "Land Yacht" had the makings of a real nice ride. Not nimble and quick but Comfortable and Thick. graemlins/thumbsup.gif

When cleaned up you could have some real fun with it. They sure don't make them like that anymore.

Like taking your living room out for a spin. The rear coil springs and the 127 in wheel base, you just float around town.

You could use it as limo service for proms and weddings and make a few extra bucks to support the habit. :D

You never know: You may get a call in the spring.
