Has anyone ever seen a car trailer that slides it's deck back and drops it flat on the ground?

If you have did you notice exactly how they managed to pick it back up?

graemlins/wavey.gif Hi Bob

I have not seen the Trailer You are talking about, but from Your Description it sounds like a Steel Deck that is lifted by the use of Hydraulics. The Deck could be Aluminum but I doubt it. You would need an Electric Motor a Pump a Reservoir Tank for the Fluid, some Pistons and a lot of Engineering. Some Alunimum could be used but Supports, Structural and moving part would have to be Steel. The do use Alunimum Skids or Ramps that Manually pull out and are 12-15 feet long. but they only hold and support the weight of a moving for a short time, untill the vehicle is placed on a Auto Carrier. The are not designed to pick up the entire weight of a vehicle.
I do have some experience with topic of discussion. since I have been Professionally involved with the Transportation of New Cars, from the MFG to Dealers since 1973. The First Load of Cars I became involved with was a load of 7 Buick Deuce and a 1/4's at the Linden N.J. GM Assembly Plant. And putting 7 of those land yachts on an Auto Carrier was not an easy feat.
Driving The truck was not easy either since the car on top of the cab the rear overhang on an Electra extended so far in front of the truck about 5'6" that when sitting in the cab it obstructed your vision to the point that the driver could not see a traffic light up close. I used to rely on the reflection on the hood of the truck to tell when the light turned. LOL Shortly after that they made me a Supervisor, but only after a made a U Turn in front of the Holland Tunnell, between NY & NJ. I guess they figured if I could pull that off, I was pretty capable of doing anything required to get the job done. I'm glad I moved on to bigger and better things.
If You have any other questions feel free to ask.
