i have heard that there were approx. 2000-3000 1972 Buick Skylark Suncoupes built. Is this trur? I have one and was wondering about the value of this car, after restoration.

I believe this was a one year only option, so yes, fairly rare. Unfortunately, rarity doesn't always equal value, and of course condition will play a large part.

When I check the price guides, it indicates a car in #3 condition to be $4600, #2= $6975 and #1= $9650. That is for a 2-dr hardtop. The price for a 2-dr sedan (post car) is roughly half the above prices. Hope this helps.
