Im just wondering what i could do to make it more responsive and have more pickup. thanks with any information. 3.3 Man 04-06-2005, 09:34 AM I know what it's like man. I've got a 3.3 Century as well. What you're gonna start to see is that it's near impossible to find any aftermarket parts for the 3.3! And you're right, it is pretty quick but was somehow neglected by all the aftermarket manufacturers. However, there are a few MILD upgrades you can do without getting custom parts fabricated. Let her breathe better by less restrictive air flow. Get the replacement K&N air filter, a high flow cat and ultimately a Flowmaster exhaust. I stuck with the Delta Flow 2 chamber 40 series personally. If you want a little more spark, change your ignition wires to some 8mm MSD's (universal sets only) and better conductive spark plugs. People always bad mouth Bosch, but I've never had a problem with the Bosch Platinum 4 spark plugs. You can even change your coil packs to MSD's as well because they make a few upgrades for late model GM Distributorless Ignition Systems (DIS). Remember, when performing all these upgrades, give the 3.3 a good tune up and drain all your fluids and replece it with synthetic oil. A good tranny fluid is B&M quick shift. This should probably give you the performance you want. Now for the custom upgrades, I've researched machine shops that can do just about anything! It's just a matter of money, but if you ever get anything fabricated, get custom headers/exhaust manifolds to complete the air flow. Hope this helps a little. Any more questions? Nicholas 04-07-2005, 07:24 PM yeah i just did my front brakes on my buick.....rotors pads everything....there the ceramic pads...since my uncle was showing me how to do brakes and such, well i dunno what is happening when i press on the brakes like at around 50+ the front end shakes as if the rotors are warped but there brand new....so you got any ideas on why its doing that? and whats usually the lifespan on the timing chain the 3.3L if you know? i just baught it like 15,000 miles ago and it has 124,000 on it now...just wondering if i should think about replacing it soon or what? 3.3 Man 04-08-2005, 02:18 AM Well, ceramic was the way to go so good job on that one. But unfortunately I can't fully diagnose your shaking problem. My only guess by the sound of that is something in the front end might be loose or needs to be tightened up? I don't know how or why the ceramics would warp. As for the timing chain, I can't even remember replacing mine but I've never heard of any defects or shortcomings of the part. I wouldn't worry too much about it until it starts to give you trouble. Nicholas 04-09-2005, 06:30 PM alright. the front end is doing good now..i got the front tires balanced and now dosent seem as shaky as it was before....might be all in my mind now! lol...i went and baugt hte K&N air filter for the buick...it was like 40 dollars but with this cupon checker gave me the cleaning kit for free......im thinking about replacing the spark plugs...was thikning before and sitll am about the bosch ones...got an oil change today...and gonna attack the fuel filter tomorrow...i know its behind the rear right wheel...or somewhere around there is it difficult to your memory? thanks alot! heidigirl 04-09-2005, 08:28 PM i think it might be behind the left rear. nothing but a couple hose clamps. piece-o-cake. 3.3 Man 04-09-2005, 11:04 PM Cool man, sounds like your 3.3 is on it's way. Heidigirl is right, it is behind the left rear. Just watch out not to get fuel in your eyes! oh, and give the Bosch a try. |
