I have a 80 Buick Regal limited 231 3.8 and my question is a 2 parter..First when im stoped at a light or stop sign, my car kinda ask like is missing when i step on the gas pedal it hestiates for couple of sec until it picks up speed and then it works great..sometime it does it sometimes not..I replaced fuel filter only..and 2nd question is.. i have real bad fuel oder..Its not leaking from no where and i cant seem to find the problem..Hopes ya can help..thanx ..Roland

do you only smell the fuel after or while the car is running, or is it present all the time?
have you ever noticed a black soot or smoke coming out of your tailpipes?
if so, you're probably going to have to adjust your carburator, because those are symptoms of a rich mixture.

allright, by the sounds of it, you have a mixture problem. Haynes sells a carburator manual for all rochester carbs, and you should be able to get that at any parts store if you feel like tackling the job yourself.
If changing the mixture doesn't work, you may have to rebuild the carb. The manual will also guide you through that process. most rebuild kits are around $30 CDN.
Another option you might look at is your catalytic converter (if you have one). If it's plugged up or otherwise bad, it won't process your emmisions properly and your exhaust will smell like gas and your car will run like crap as well.
