Hi, as mentioned in a previous post, I have my car at school so that I can make use of the lifts while I put on the new exhaust system. I walked into class yesterday and my teacher showed me that he had taken off the valve covers in the class before me, and that they had found coolant in the oil. I had a look and it sure looked like coolant in the oil. So I was kinda mad about that, and figured I'd have to replace the head gaskets. But thinking about my problem last night... in bed (where I always get my thinking done smile.gif ) I remembered that before I got my car, the previous owner had it sitting outside for about 6-7 years not running, and no oil changes. Could this milky oil on the rockers be caused my condensation that has accumulated in the valve cover and then run into the oil? Maybe this is wishful thinking, but I would really like to know if this is possible. I did an oil change on it about 2-3 months ago, but I havn't driven it really because of the winter. Is it possible that when I did the oil change, that the old water contaminated oil sat ontop of the rockers while it drained? I'm going to clean off the milky oil later today and then do an oil change, and see if it comes back. Hopefully I can get a reply before then, to let me know if I should even bother.

Hey
My dad has a 64 buick special with the aluminium 300. It is usually caused by acid in the coolant (from combustion) eating the head causing water to get into the cylinders/and or the oil. Check the plugs for dampness and remove the head and you may see where the coolant has eaten the head. Get the damaged area aluminium welded and re-install. Should be good just change your coolant every year or less and you should have no problems.

Ok, I looked more thoroughly yesterday and found that it is indeed coolant. (I found green cooland in there, not just milky oil.) I have cast iron heads on my skylark, is there any chance that this would stop the acid from eating away as much, and therefore, its just a gasket?
