I have a 68 Riviera GS with the 430 V8 engine that has a potention problem. When the valve cover was removed from the left head, there was a hint of coolant in the head. Does this mean the head is cracked or that the intake gasket needs replacing? The car runs great and doesn't smoke at all. Any ideas, comments, or suggestions are welcome!

Rick,
You say that there was a hint of "coolant" ?? Was it actuallygreen like antifreeze, or a bit of milky oil looking ? If it was just a bit of milky oil, its not at all unusual on a car that is not driven very often. I would change the oil and take it for a good long drive, 50 miles or so, to get all the condensation out of the engine. Then take another look and see if there is really a problem.

I'll take a second look. I've seen that milky look before but it didn't cross my mind at the time for whatever reason. If I don't see anything that looks like coolant, I'll definitely change the oil and keep a check on it. Thanks for the idea!!
