The motor in my '67 special blew about 2 months ago (camshaft broke and came out the block) and I'm obvoiusly looking for a new engine. I had a 300 2bbl. I would like to put in a 455, but I don't know what else would need to be changed. My car has the same body as the GS, so I know the engine will fit, and I know I need new motor mounts, but is my radiator too small? And since it's a heavier engine would I have to change the front suspension? And will it bolt to my TH 350 with no problems? And woud I have to change the driveshaft in any way? Is there anything else I would have to do? If I have to change too much I think I'll just settle for a 350. Thanks for our input.

we did this on our 65 lark. pretty much every thing you listed has to be modified to some degree.

the TH 350 will fit the 455. We had to shorten the drive shaft but we went with a TH400. You need to either fab and weld your own mounts or get the frame pads from TA Performance. We also had our original 2 core rad, 4 cored. As for the front suspension, we changed everything including springs and to poly eurethane bushings.

dont forget the rear end when you try to put all that torque through it!

bottom line. $10,000 if you rebuild the motor, tranny, rear end, and full suspension.

sorry its not better news,LOL. :D
